On July 30th, 2011, at the Office of the Vocational Education Commission and in cooperation with Central Retail Cooperation Ltd., who had organized the China World Fashion Design Contest 2011 under the theme “My World, My Inspire”. The main purpose of this event was to select the best professional designers of fashion design and sewing from many entrants nationwide.
Act. Sec. Lieutenant Pongpet Pittayapala, Advisor of the Vocational Education Standards in Industry at OVEC, informed the audience attending that the related committee had selected 10 teams from a total of 48 teams to take part in the final which took place on July 30th, 2011 at the China World Centre at Wang Burapha in Bangkok. In this regard, the 1st winner was Nakhon Si Thammarat Vocational College (Theme - The Architecture of Thailand), this winning team received scholarships, round trip tickets and accommodation in Hong Kong, a prize valued at 176,500 baht. In addition, their suits will be put on public display from August 1st to 31st, 2011 and will also be published in Kullasatree Magazine; the 2nd winner came from Chiang Rai Vocational College (Theme - My Inspire: Civilization Value), this team received a scholarship valued at 19,000 baht and a gift voucher of 1,500 baht; the 3rd winner was from Chiang Mai Vocational College (Modern Theme), this team received a scholarship valued at 14,000 baht and a gift voucher of 1,500 baht. Moreover, Nakhon Pathom Vocational College won the most “Popular Vote” prize and received a scholarship valued at 8,000 baht and a gift voucher of 1,500 baht.
The Advisor went on to state further that this contest supported and encouraged skills development in accordance with fashion design among fabric and garment students. It also put on show the achievement of vocational students both to parents and the public. It is hoped that this will stimulate more students to further their studies in this particular area in the future. |
