At the Ministry of Education, Mr. Apichart Jeerawuth, the Permanent Secretary for Education, held a meeting of the heads of agencies under the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Education in order to adjust related action plans and projects in response to the Pua Thai Party’s policies.
In this regard, the most important policy that needed consideration in detail was the matter of free education for Thai children from birth to the age of 4 years old; this will be under responsibility of the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. The Ministry of Education will take care of children’s education from kindergarten until upper secondary education. Thus, all three ministries should cooperate and coordinate in the future to attain better success. It is necessary to consider whether some parts of the budget allocated for 15 years free quality education will be cut with this new project. The Permanent Secretary for Education also wished to acknowledge and confirm the achievements of the 15 years free education in the past 3 years which responded to the needs and interests of Thai citizens.
With regards to the minimum salary of new officials which starts at 15,000 baht according to the new government’s policy. The Ministry of Education has already recruited more than 10,000 officials in these positions. Thus, those concerned will have their salaries automatically adjusted. The Permanent Secretary has assigned the Office of Teacher Civil Services and Educational Personnel to appoint a working group to study the total amount of money required for this purpose. The Office of Teacher Civil Services and Educational Personnel have also been assigned to cooperate with the National Institute for the Development of Teachers, Faculty Staff and Educational Personnel to conduct training for all teachers in area of ICT literacy. |
