Meeting between SG and Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva



Jakarta, 13 September 2011


H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of ASEAN, received on 12 September 2011 in his Office, H.E. Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, EU Commissioner for International Cooperation on Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response.



Dr. Surin and Commissioner Georgieva discussed wide range of cooperation between ASEAN and EU especially in the field of sharing experiences and expertise, and joint exercises on disaster preparedness, risk reductions and crisis response. Both SG and the Commissioner agreed to further promote concrete cooperation between the existing mechanisms of ASEAN and EU, namely the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA) and the European Commission Humanitarian Aid department (ECHO)
